Randall Bachman, Board Chairperson

Randy Bachman, current Chairperson, brings over 35 years experience in education and human services with a variety of government and non-profit organizations.  He has led efforts on the local, state and national levels to promote improvements in the delivery of human services, mental health and substance abuse prevention and treatment.  He was the Director of the Utah State Division of Substance Abuse and Mental Health, and the Executive Director of two non-profit human services organizations and one regional mental health center.

Throughout his career, Randy has led efforts to assist people in need, promote effective treatments, and to support and strengthen families and communities.  He was instrumental in developing self-help programs for struggling parents, was one of the original founders of the Minnesota Family Based Services Association, and served on the Minnesota Children’s Trust Fund Board.  Randy also early in his career worked as a school counselor, a program coordinator for early childhood, and a supervisor and director of Olmsted County Social Services in Rochester, Minnesota.  He also served on the Rochester School Board for eight years.

Randy lives in Afton, Minnesota, with his wife Klare.  He enjoys time with his daughter and son-in-law, and playing with his grandson.  He also likes to hike and camp, play guitar, and write poetry and occasional topical pieces on contemporary issues.
